Jazz/contemporary ensemble
New Roads High School
All four years of high school I've played in an ensemble, my first year I played blues, second year and third year I played in a rock band, and fourth year I am playing in a rock band and a jazz band. Playing with others is one of the most crucial parts of music, being able to communicate through your instrument. These ensembles helped me

Summer Program
Berklee College of Music
In the summer of 2023, I also completed a summer program run by Berklee College of Music at the Colburn College campus. I took many classes similar to the ones at CSSSA but more focused on technique, style, writing, and the music industry. During my time there I also worked with a group of 4 people and was tasked with writing a song within 48 hours. I wrote, tracked, and recorded all the guitars within the song. We ended up writing, recording, and performing the song by the end of the 48 hours.
My Story
At 12 I began my musical journey, starting on piano. It was winter break and I had three weeks off. I begged my parents for a keyboard, they thought I would end up giving it up within a week or two, but I ended up convincing them. Once I unboxed it and set it up, I began a journey that will last me for my entire life. I pressed my finger down on a single key and prepared to hear the first musical note I play ring out into the world. In that moment I felt whole. I couldn't get enough of it. I began my mission, I started teaching myself to play small bits of my favorite songs, like the first bit of Für Elise that everyone knows, and then kept learning more until I learned more than half of the song. I couldn't get enough, but I had one piece in particular that I had to learn and I couldn't let anything get in the way of it. That piece was Beethovens 5th symphony movement 1. I began learning it painfully slowly but I spent hours and hours every day practicing and after three weeks I was able to play the first two minutes of the piece at the original tempo. I then had to get back to school and occupy my time with my studies but I would never let go of that initial spark and that drive I had that winter break.
